Words cannot adequately express how excited I am that Marlee Matlin is joining the L Word cast. She is a wonderful actress who has made such a huge impact for the deaf, I am so excited she's willing to tackle such a controversial series. A deaf lesbian - I really don't think one has been portrayed in TV or movies before.
This is the only reason I am excited for next season. This season left me wanting.
I should post a picture of my new cat, Guy. Though, I am trying to stray away from posting about my cats and cat woes since, well, that's all I've really posted about. I sound like the scary neighborhood cat-lady. "Guy" became his default name after others just did not catch on. When I realized I was calling him "Guy", for the most part, I figured that already was his name.
He's friggin huge - Xena weighs almost 11 pounds, Guy seriously has to be near 20. He's not fat though, just a huge cat.
So since I have introduced him, I'll tell this lovely story.
So I came home from work the other night to find a pair of HUGE hairballs on the floor. Ew. So I go to clean them up and notice, what I believe to be, a rubberband there. I thought to myself, "Aw, poor guy, good thing he coughed that up." Then I think to myself again, "Hm, I need to take a closer look at it..."
So I pick it up and I'm looking at it, stretching it out and it's springy like a rubberband. But something just doesn't seem right...
...Then it moves.
That was one of the most repulsive things I've had the displeasure to be a part of. Needless to say, I bought some over-the-counter de-wormer the next day (yesterday) and will make him a vet appointment. Really. Gross. Why can't I just have hassle-free pets?!
So... After that endearing story, I will move on to the next most logical subject - Food. Specifically soup! I made some pretty good soup yesterday from the recipe book Aaron loaned me. It has the fancy name of Soupe Savoyarde. Which means Savoyard Cream of Potato Soup. Why do cookbooks give an estimated preparation time/cooking time of 30 minutes - But it always takes me atleast an hour? Anyway, I am going to post the recipe since I will not have the cookbook forever. It's not hard to remember, but I'll share the love.
5 Cups Chicken Stock
4 Large Potatoes (I prefer the small red ones though, and used 12 of them instead)
2 1/2 Cups Milk
4 Tablespoons Butter
2/3 Cup grated Gruyere Cheese
Salt/Pepper
Basically, cover and boil the potatoes in the chicken stock (and have more stock on hand since it evaporates). Then blend in a blender when soft. Place back in pot over low/medium heat and add the rest of the stuff. That's it. :)
