The Immigration Debate

Immigration. You cannot turn on the TV now without hearing the debate. Honestly though, is there really a debate? It's so one sided it seems. The rallys and protests are all on the part of those who are for the amnesty/legal status for illegal immigrants and against any further limits/enforcing of anti-illegal immigration. Lou Dobbs of CNN is the only one I've heard really taking a strong opposing stand. I just don't get it.

While polls are not scientifically sound, every one I have seen has had a ratio of 75%-80% against legalization for those illegals in the country now. The political jockeying is annoying the hell out of me. It is not right to give legal status to those who entered/remain in the country by breaking the law while there are so many who have always waited and taken the legal steps to become citizens. This is all for votes and nothing more. The safety of the country is not the main concern and in a post-9/11 world that is a very dangerous precedent to set.

Oh well, I've really nothing to add of great substance. Just rambling on.
